PADDYTALKS GOLF ORIGINS

showcasing IRISH golf

I love Golf. I love the history, the etiquette, the culture, the untold stories, the architects, the courses, the golfing community and ultimately the unforgettable experiences that playing golf presents us all. I love Golf in Ireland, links golf, parkland golf, the marquee Irish golf courses and also discovering truly hidden Irish golf course gems.

I grew up on the links of Lahinch and until recently didn’t often venture far past the low walls of Liscannor Road seeking other golfing experiences. However through work, family, travel and meeting people such as Matt Ginella, Matt Adams, John Ashworth, Tom Coyne, Dean Klatt, Jed Sprague, Conor O’Rourke, Cormac Sharvin, Paul McBride, Seamus Power, TJ Hackett and many more, the realisation of a world full of golf experiences to be discovered dawned on me. There is a depth to golf that few sports make as accessible. I am really excited about truly beginning a discovery into the game, into golf architecture, golf history and most of all I cannot wait to meet as many people that make this game so great in this country of ours.

However, aside from taking every opportunity I can between family and work commitments to play golf, which by the way isn’t as often as my instagram feed would suggest, my knowledge of golf history, golf architecture, golf courses of Ireland let alone the world, is actually quite minimal! This is why I am so excited about truly beginning a discovery into the game, into golf in Ireland, the courses and especially the people and untold stories within it.

Whilst I continue my own discovery into the endless world of Golf itself I will look to showcase Irish Golf especially. Why? Truthfully, I have taken it for granted. I have always said I’ll play here or there when I can, without making a conclusive effort to actually make it happen. Having experienced multiple lockdowns with coronavirus through 2020/2021 and realising life is not endless, let’s just say there will be a concerted effort to play and experience more golf, meet, sit down and speak to more people, have more fun in the game and document my experiences as best I can whether through the medium of podcast, video or the camera lens.

I have a vision that the little community I’ve built thus far will to continue to evolve and my content, whether podcast, video or this website can evolve with it.

Let’s make some memories, let’s tee it up.
